Digital Story
Dear Kate Ahem:
Thank you for taking the time to watch and consider the PSA Digital Story that I have created. Through the Dogooder Awards, I am able to present this digital story about an issue that is urgent and very important to me. I am submitting this PSA Digital Story in hopes of the “Best Nonprofit Video Award”, as I have highlighted the activities of an organization and showed viewers how they are working for a change on my particular issue of female feticide and infanticide in India.
Throughout this video, I included lots of pictures of Indian girls, families, and society. Some of the pictures are very graphic, but I believe that this will appeal to the emotions of the viewers and cause them to become more aware of the issue. I also include music that starts off slow and sad, but picks up a faster tempo towards the end. I have specific slides of text to reiterate my theme and title of the piece, which is “Imagine”. I find this title and theme appropriate because it is ultimately what I want my viewers to do – imagine if they were in a situation like this.
I start off the digital story by explaining the practice of female feticide and infanticide to viewers, and how horrifying it is. The second half of the video explains that there is hope for the girl child of India, and tells about a specific organization called The Rhema Project that is doing their best to help. I then go into more extensive detail about what the organization does and what their goals are.
Thank you again for considering my PSA Digital Story as a way to raise awareness about the practice of female feticide and infanticide as well as The Rhema Project.
Sincerely,
Abbey Weist
